We would like to point out some of the quality features Torrid
offers compared to our competition:

Water heater manufacturers generally produce a tank which is
designed to last longer than their guarantee period. Torrid uses a glass lined
tank very similar to those used in millions of homes.
It can withstand high temperatures and last longer in marine
environments. The protection
against corrosion in this type of tank is provided by installing a magnesium
anode. The life of the tank is
determined by, among other things, the amount of magnesium rod protection and
the mag rod’s location in the
tank.

We use a mag rod that allows us to offer a 5 year guarantee
against tank failure.

We use a high quality heat exchanger.
It is made of copper with a silicon bronze casting.

We use an Incoloy sheathed heating element as opposed to the
copper sheathed that most others use. Our
superior element is the type used in most commercial electric water heaters and
boilers. A copper sheathed element
will burn out in two or three seconds if not immersed in water.
Ours will burn in air and cannot be damaged by energizing the electrical
circuit when the tank is empty. We
guaranteed the element for five years.

We use a thermostat which is manufactured specifically for our
marine water heater. The energy
cutoff is set at 200*F. so that normal fluctuations of engine water temperatures
will not cause nuisance tripping of the electrical circuit.

Our side connect hot water outlet is fitted with an internal tube
which takes water from the top of the tank head.
This eliminates air trapped in the top of the tank when filled with
water, a common complaint about other side connected designs.
Top connect designs do not have an air problem either, but they won’t
fit in many locations where there is a height limitation.

We use a high density fiber glass insulation that is packed in
tightly. This extra measure of
insulation keeps the stored water hot for a longer time.
